A busy weekend

Not played any poker over the weekend as I’ve been too busy. Saturday we went off for a walk over at Attenborough Nature Reserve, and today there was the Food & Drink Festival happening in the Market Square in Nottingham. It was a good event, and I did sample some very nice smoothies, and a huge cupcake!!! Yum Yum

So, when I got back tonight, and after watching the X-Factor (sad I know), I thought I’d better get a few hands in. Especially as I’m off to Krakow, in Poland first thing Thursday morning for 4 days. So, even more important to try and get a few hands in. Not that anything too amazing happened, but after an hour playing I turned a $40 profit. Which is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick! In fact, I was quite pleased with the session.

One of my tables died off and I ended up playing heads-up for 30 minutes or so. I used it more for practice, as he seemed pretty solid. Normally I’d change tables sharpish as they are just not as profitable, unless you’re playing a real donk. Much better to have a full table in my opinion, well for me at this stage anyway.

One hand that was interesting was just before this table broke, and I had KcQh in the cut-off, and I open-raise to $1.50. Both the small and big blind come along. The big blind was the guy I ended up playing heads-up with. The flop was 8c5cQs, and the big blind led, and at this point (40 hands in) I didn’t have a good read on him, so I flat the $3.50 thinking that my hand is fairly strong and I have a backdoor flush draw too, and the small blind folds. The turn was the 8d, not great, but a good card for him to barrel, which he does. Although his bet was odd. He bet $5 into $11.50, and this just didn’t feel right. I actually felt he was quite weak, and I just flat. I maybe should have raised but I really didn’t want to get re-raised off my hand. The river was the 4h, and he checks.

At this point I really felt like I had the best hand. I could have been wrong, and I partly think my value (half pot) bet was a little thin, but the check made me feel he was possibly chasing a flush with a Q in hand, maybe QcJc or QcTc. It did elicit a call, but unfortunately he mucked, and you don’t have the pleasure of seeing the mucked hands on Eurobet! All that matters is that he called and I won $41.50!!! ;-)

I would report my stats for the night, but Hold’em Manager went a little haywire and thinks I made around $30 more than I did. So, I don’t trust the stats from this session. I’ll leave you with what is floating around in my head though. I’m contemplating moving up to 100nl again. Even though I know my bankroll is not high enough, I feel my game is solid enough and I am rolling nicely along, that it might be a really good time for me to do it. What I might do is just play 1 table until I get a feel for the players at 100nl, and then move on to 2. Obviously being very sensible and moving down at the first sign of trouble! As you know, I’ll let you know when I do move up and keep you informed!

Until next time.

Nice job! Good to see that you’re still hammering away at those guys online :)

Not sure I like moving up a level until you’re BR is solid enough, but that’s just me.

I had a huge loss at the casino last night, but I deserve it as I was playing while tired, I’m still playing around a bit, just not as much as I’d like, not enough money :P

    Good luck as always!

Thanks! Great to hear from you man, I hope you are well. Maybe we can catch-up on Skype sometime soon.

I know what you mean about moving up, but I did the same with 50nl, and I think I can keep the same momentum going. Also, in the past I’d move up with 4 tables, whereas this time it’d be 1. So, not the same requirement. You with me?

I hope the loss wasn’t cripling!?! I know you prefer playing live, and I have to admit to having an urge to play live, but playing online means you can play for a lot less and risk less. Never play tired or drunk ;-)

Thanks again, and I hope we speak soon!
