Wow, did I get lucky on the last hand of the night!
I had 7s8s under-the-gun, and I open/raise to $1.50, and everyone folds but the small blind, who was running 30vpip/20pfr/1.7aggr.fact., who calls. The flop came 6sQs9d, giving me an open ended straight draw and the flush draw. The small blind checks, I c-bet $2.75 into $3.50, only to get check/raised to $8. Now, if I raise I’m putting half my stack in, and if the turn isn’t good I’m going to be in a tricky spot. So, I decide to jam, and if he calls with a hand like AQ or Q9 I have plenty of outs. Unfortunately for me he calls with AsJs!
The only way out of this pickle is to hit my straight, but without hitting a spade. Hmmm…. not good. The turn was the Kh, but the river, the river was the 5d to make my straight! Frickin A. As punishment though, I instantly lost my Internet connection, and with that I thought I had better sign off and not push my luck any more tonight. Up a buy-in.
Goodnight.
