River dilemma

This is just a quick post about a hand I played tonight. I thought the river was an interesting spot that you might be interested in.

We were 3 handed on a 5-max table. Basically, 3 regs waiting for the fish to appear. I had KcQh on the button, and open/raise to $1.50, and the big blind 3-bet to $5. Now, normally I might give it up here, but this guy had been 3-betting nearly every time I open/raised the button, so I called. The flop came 2sJc9c, and he leads for $7 into $10.25. He’d actually been continuation-betting 91% of the time, and with that info I call with the gutshot and backdoor flush.

The turn was the 7d, and he checked. I thought about taking a shot, but I didn’t want to get check/raised, so I check behind. Previously, when he checked the turn he’d be giving up, but if I hit the river, I could potentially stack him if he decided to try and steal it.  The river though, was very interesting. It was the Qc, and he open/shoves $37.75 into $24.25. A line that I really felt was a bluff. If he’d been chasing the flush draw or straight, this guy would have kept firing all the way, but he didn’t. So, I ruled these out. He might of had 2 pair, but why shove? If I had a straight or flush he’s getting called, and he is smart enough to know this.

It was a really tough call, but I made it. And fortunately I made the right call. He turned over AdKs. Phewwww!!!!!!! $98.25 shipped over to me. Thank you.
